Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka on Tuesday declined to put a time-frame on when Luka Doncic would make his debut for the NBA club following his trade from the Dallas Mavericks.

Doncic arrives in Los Angeles while recuperating from a nagging calf injury that has kept him out of action since he last appeared for Dallas in a December 25 game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Pelinka said that while the Lakers were optimistic that the 25-year-old would make his debut for the club “soon,” there was no fixed timetable for his return to action.

“Our sports performance department is led by Dr. Leroy Sims, and Luka has trusted performance folks that are going to become part of our family and Dr Sims’ circle,” Pelinka said.

“And they’re working together as we speak about a return to play plan. We have five-on-five scheduled tomorrow for Luka, and we’re going to take it one day at a time just to make sure that the calf injury is in a good and safe place.

“So I would truly say at this point, he’s day-to-day. We’re going to take it one step at a time, but if all those days go well and Luka feels good and confident, he’ll be in a game soon.”

Capt. Teofisto Ferrer, city police Station 2 commander, identified the fatality as Norodin Mama, a deputy commander of the MILF and a resident of Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Sur.
