MANILA, Philippines — Myla Pablo believes their tough straight-set loss to Creamline last November 16 lit the fire under Petro Gazz, which is currently riding a six-game winning streak in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Pablo and Brooke Van Sickle continued to prove to be a potent 1-2 punch, leading the Angels to their sixth consecutive win after beating the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, 25-20, 24-26, 28-26, 25-22, on Tuesday night at Philsports Arena.

The former PVL MVP, who delivered 22 points, said their last defeat fired up the Angels to move to just a half-game behind unbeaten Creamline (7-0) with a 7-1 record.

“Nag-start naman ito sa Creamline, we lost straight sets. Sabi namin in the next game, kailangan maging motivation namin ‘yung game na yon kasi siyempre kailangan i-angat mo ‘yung sarili mo. Hindi puwedeng si Rem (Palma) lang ‘yung kumakapit sa team, kailangan lahat kami iaangat namin ‘yung team namin para maipanalo mga bawat games namin,” said the resurgent Pablo.

Pablo credited their surge to Japanese coach Koji Tsuzurabara who patiently motivated every member and instilled his system for them to work as one.

“Kudos din sa coach namin na grabe ‘yung patience niya samin sa training and sa game na ang laking factor sa amin na andiyan siya to guide everyone, especially samin mga open spikers,” she said.

“Nung una mahirap pero kailangan talaga everyday sa training, kailangan i-accept kung ano ‘yung magiging outcome niya sa loob ng court. Ginawa ko lang ‘yung best ko at yung sistema ni coach Koji. Kaya tignan mo ‘yung nangyari sa amin this conference.”

The PSA said the construction materials wholesale price index eased to 0.3 percent year-on-year in August, slower than the 0.5 percent growth in July. This was also slower compared to 5.6 percent in the same period last year.

The 31-year-old spiker, who continues to turn back the clock, also attributed her consistent performance to Tsuzurabara’s trust which inspired her to work harder and help the team.

“Kailangan talaga pag binigayan ka ng trust ng coach, tanggapin mo ‘yung trabaho sa loob ng court. Naging motivation ko talaga this conference na bumawi talaga,” she said.

Petro Gazz eyes its seventh win in a row against Capital1 on Tuesday next week in Pasig City, hoping to end the preliminary round on top before the crucial qualification games, where the six winning teams gain quarterfinal berths.
